“Look Mr. Faraz India is our enemy and I don’t want to listen any sympathy for India.” This view is not of any Jihadi or member of militant group fighting for last 17 years in Kashmir, it’s a view of a common man. Just talking about India and Indian issues with my friends I hear such loathsome views. While just arguing on Kargil issue with my friends and in a want to convince them that Kargil was the horrible mistake made by our army with Jihadis.
May be I was wrong in my debate, because the facts and secrets of Kargil still not publicly open by our government, but what is wrong in discussing? what happened to those who don’t want to listen a single word against Pakistan still we are wrong. But the problem is not that, after this street debate, in the afternoon I think that what do you expect from a nation who face four marshal law just in the short history of 58 years, where the laws like “azadi-e-sahafat”(independence of press) enforce during the night, where 30 years military rule by force, where each news first censored by government then published in paper, the country where it’s the crime to talk about national issues like 1971 Bangladesh genocide, Sindh operation, Baluchistan operation and off course Kargil. The “hamud-ur-rahman commission report” about Bangladesh was published in local newspaper after 30 years of that horrible incident and when it was published in Indian newspaper. Due to the “large national interest” our rulers hide that report or many secrets like that to their own public.
Not long time ago, the relation of Pakistan and India is just like exchange-daughter of two houses if wife of one home tortured then it is due that another wife also beaten in their Father’s in Law house. Whenever a Pakistani diplomat gave the “honor” of disgust person, some Indian diplomat should also bind to leave country in a short notice. The victim of this diplomatic terrorism definitely has some relation with some intelligence agencies of both countries like RAW or ISI.
I don’t know about India but I am sure on my side the fundamental points of foreign policy was dictate by agencies like ISI OR MI (Military Intelligence). Whose country is my favorite, and which country we give title of infernal region and security risk. Some of philosopher said about Kashmir that both government of India and Pakistan cook their meal on fire of Kashmir. Common peoples from both countries has tough time to cross borders and meet with their own blood relation like father, daughter, mother. People can’t cross borders even their own blood relatives are present just a few miles away from them. Can history or humanism shall make pardon for those peoples who are responsible for close gates of both countries. Do any one pay price for those the separation, the price for those emotions when a son, daughter, mother couldn’t be able to attend marriages functions and some times even death funerals of beloved ones. But junta of both countries should pay this price for last half of century. The price of fire which never be fed by junta of both countries. Instead of love praising among peoples, common junta of both countries prepare for that war which didn’t has morals and ethics in them and still not happened yet, and may Bhagwan, Allah not break that war.
We are the generation who nourished under the slogan of hatred, when we are child and going to mosque for prayer then our ears still remember that voice that sermon’s order common people to raise Pakistani flag at LAL-Qila in New Delhi, jihad against Indians in Kashmir, jihad against Hindus. Collecting funds against India, which I still didn’t find that where it goes, because, if the pace of collecting fund was so high at that time the Kashmiri’s could get independence three times in 50+ years history. But if it was done, what happen to those peoples who made business, made their foreign accounts in name of Kashmir, in name of hate. The distance between both countries has not more than 57 miles at some places but it takes 57 years to cross it.
If you are the resident of Karachi then you must know that the name of dawood ibrahim or any other mafia leaders are in the tongue of every child in this city, stories of ibrahim are known by every one in Karachi just like we know benazir bhutto, nawaz sharif or any other national personality. But Pakistan always denies their presence at international level.
Still when India Pakistan has dialogues between them, cricket diplomacy is at peak this time, common peoples meet and talk to each other, crossing a bridge of peace, every month some important delegation of both countries travel to each other country, it is also odd to see that thousands odd Indians and Pakistanis can be allowed to roam on road and markets on each other countries. The fire of fright, terror still raise in some Pakistani youth and that is dangerous. Still peoples are crazy at India Pakistan cricket matches and don’t prepare to lost India even in a cricket match. Off course this hate, which we listen since childhood, takes some time to leave from our hearts. Street discussions like baithak, any tea party at any local restaurant you simply find some bias views against India. It is a good sign that government now pay attention to public issues and the Pakistani government “core issue” back grounded by authorities either India told issue of Baluchistan and Sindh as internal issue of Pakistan. But you can find condolence with jihadi’s in common public of Pakistan. And still the reservation of crossing bridge of peace is stood in its own place. Still the process of peace is on those hands that are responsible for tragic relations with India, for last half of century.
For last two years, let’s aside peace dialogues at one place, see what practical steps taken by the both countries, still second largest province Sindh is waiting to open border with India, authorities said, its just a matter of one year, for last one year. Still open trade is not made possible between both countries some un-seen hands still in between trade negotiations. One can’t simply take their goods to other neighbor country. Still attack on innocent passengers of bus service happened. Tough for the first time India didn’t blame any “foreign hand” for the tragic bus passenger attack at Srinagar. But this attack was possible, after insured by General Musharraf that there is no back of jihadi’s of Kashmir by Pakistan. The romance between Pakistan and India can be seen passionately in dialogue table, but when you see the ground realities this flame of romance become cold. Still the hero of 1999 Indian airline-hijacking plane Maulana Masud Azhar and Mushtaq Zurger hid at some places at Karachi. The militants group which are banned in 2001 are present at national scenario simply by changing their names, I don’t admit that by changing name of “Lahkar-e-tai’bba” to “jamaat-ut-dawaa”, “sipah-e-sahaba” to “jamaat-e-furqan”, “jai’sh-e-mohammad” to “xyz” can change their mission too. Still they are working at some places in Pakistan by changing their names. One can find out their literature by some little struggle.
I am not frustrating people just by telling those bitter facts nor I am hopeless for the peace negotiations. But I am just mirroring the second side of picture. We all know that the steps taken by our government shall not be bounce back because of the pressure of peoples of both countries. But I am scared that for those un-seen hands ready to hijack that peace process again, which we could see in the past.
Remember peace is a process that takes long time for its execution but war or hate can only be a matter of minutes. Reader’s can imagine what happened, when some major incident take place in critical places of both countries, like we saw in the past when Indian Prime Minister Atul Bihari Wajpayee placed half of their army to Pakistani borders just after the parliament attack by some militants at new Delhi. Now, Peoples from both countries admit that their real enemy is not its neighbor country but extremism and poverty on both side.
Leaders like Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Gandhi Ji, Pundit Nehru never expect, demand and hope that hell-relations of both countries. Neither common peoples demand those militancy and war environment between both. The two countries would not be able to be at peace with each other as long as Jinnah and Mahatma Gandhi continued to be demonised in India and Pakistan respectively.
And perhaps still we have time to remove those un-seen borders between us. But for this we are 100% dependent on youth of both countries. The normalization between India Pakistan relations will be the need of time I don’t know when it will happen, but it should happen one day.
