Three friends unite after 61 years........
KHARAR: Manmade Indo-Pak boundaries could not keep three friends of nearby Kamalpur village away forever. Their joy knew no bounds when they met each other in Kharar on Friday after a gap of about 61 years.
Mohammed Yusaf Khan (80), who now resides in Pakistan was forced to leave his village (Kamalpur, near Ropar) during Partition when he was merely 19 years old. However, his fast friend Jagu Ram remained in India and still lives in the village. Although Yusaf was a big landlord in India at that time, he had to do lot of labour for about 20 years in Pakistan, the fruit of which is a land that he was alloted in Pakistan. Yusaf was accompained by his son Arshad, who is presently posted as DSP in Pakistan police. Talking to TOI, DSP Arshad, said His father often talked about his village and mentioned his desire to visit it again. Whenever he used to see any mango in Pakistan he used to talk in detail about the fruit and the trees in his native village and in the vicinity.
